Herbal Medicine

Chinese medicine and ginger

Much like acupuncture and food therapy, herbs are used to aid the body with finding balance to achieve good health. Herbal formulas prescribed to pets are made from plants with medicinal properties. Herbs are typically administered orally in either a powder or liquid form. In Chinese medicine herbal formulas are often a combination of many herbs rather than a singe ingredient. Herbal remedies can be useful for a variety of disease processes and are often used as a cornerstone in holistic care programs along with acupuncture, Tui-na and food therapy.

Herbs are generally very safe when used appropriately under the care of a trained veterinarian and sourced from trusted manufactures. We source our veterinary herbs from Jing Tang Herbal, Evergreen Herbal and Kan Herb. These manufactures all comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and are tested with chromatography to ensure potency and test for active ingredients.  They are also tested for heavy metals, bacteria, fungus and pesticides, both in-house and at third party labs. We only source from herbal suppliers that follow these practices to ensure we are prescribing quality, safe products to your pets.
